Six pallets became five between the loading bay and shelf three

Unloaded six pallets of Ironwood Stout this morning — case count looked clean at the dock, invoice said 144 units, scanner agreed. Started breaking them down for cooler three and realized shelf allocation only made sense for five.

Didn't lose anything. Just means one pallet's worth got absorbed into the back-stock shuffle without updating the staging map. Probably my fault for letting Kara pull two cases mid-sort for a display reset.

Where the math went sideways

Each pallet holds 24 cases. Six times 24 is still 144, but cooler three was spec'd for 120 — that's five pallets exactly. The extra 24 are now on the overflow rack behind the walk-in, which I should've marked on the whiteboard before lunch.

Ironwood's a 7.2% imperial stout, roasty and heavy, the kind of thing that moves slower in May than it will in October. We'll rotate it forward when the weather turns, but for now it's taking up real estate in the "later" zone.

Notes for next delivery

I'm writing the pallet breakdown directly on the BOL next time. If the floor can't hold the full shipment, the invoice doesn't care — but the cooler door does, and so does whoever's trying to find product three weeks later.

Ironwood's here, it's accounted for, and it'll be exactly where it needs to be once I finish the shelf map tomorrow. Just wanted to close the loop on why the staging area looks like I gave up halfway through.
