The Porter nobody asked about, restocked anyway
Ember Ridge Porter sits on the bottom shelf, left side of cooler three. We restocked it Thursday—four cases, same as last time—and I realized nobody has asked me about it in weeks.
Six cases went out last month. All purchases, no returns. The kind of slow, reliable movement that doesn't generate conversation but keeps a SKU alive in the system.
What it actually is
American porter, 5.8%, chocolate malt forward with a dry finish. Not a dessert beer. The label shows a ridgeline at dusk, which is accurate to the flavor in a way I can't quite explain. It tastes like the end of something.
People buy it in singles, sometimes two. I've never seen anyone grab a six-pack. It moves in a pattern I associate with deliberate choice rather than impulse.
Cooler position matters
Bottom shelf sounds like a demotion, but that corner gets foot traffic from people who actually browse. The grab-and-go crowd stays eye-level. The people who crouch are the ones who read.
Ember Ridge Porter has been in that spot for four months. The sales curve is flat in a way that suggests we found the right depth. Not a hero, not a problem.
We'll restock it again in three weeks.
