Oakmont Saison: 32 IBU and a Peppery Finish We Didn't Expect

We cracked the first bottle of Oakmont Saison Thursday morning to confirm the tasting notes, and by Friday noon half the case was gone. The 32 IBU sounded modest on paper, but the peppery phenolics in the finish gave it a kick none of us saw coming.

What's in the Glass

Pale gold, almost straw-colored, with a tight white head that hung around longer than expected. The aroma leads with citrus peel and a faint barnyard funk — classic farmhouse territory. First sip is clean and dry, then the pepper arrives: not heat, but a sharp, almost herbal snap that lingers on the back of the tongue.

One regular described it as "lemonade with a secret," which is close enough. The carbonation is lively without being aggressive, and at 5.8% ABV it's light enough to keep you honest.

Why It Moved Fast

We restocked the cooler twice in two days. Part of it is the weather — anything under 6% does well when it's warm — but the real driver is word of mouth. Someone tries it, texts a friend, and suddenly we're pulling four-packs for people who "heard about the saison."

It pairs well with lunch, which is rare praise from our dock crew. They're not wrong.

Reserve Your Four-Pack Before the Weekend Rush

We've got two cases left as of this post. If you want to try Oakmont before the next delivery cycle, now's the time. Cooler three, top shelf, next to the Fieldstone Kölsch that also refuses to stay in stock.

Come by before Saturday. Seriously.
